Selected Dangerous: Odyssey enters its final alpha phase looking worse for wear
Selected Dangerous: Odyssey has entered the final stage of its of import period, letting pilots finally make landfall with a snapshot of their pilots from the live game ahead of the expanding upon's launch on May 19th.
After weeks of restricting pilots to limited sections of distance, Odyssey testers can now stand out in from wherever their commanders in the live game left off (from snapshots interpreted last week). That said, I'm not as optimistic as I'd like. Since we first set foot in Odyssey, my PC Gamer copilot Andy K and I haven't been too baking on the expansion. With phase 4, none of these systems have essentially metamorphic—nor did I have a bun in the oven them to. Just there's a signified that the expansion is somewhat undercooked. For case, on importing my main pilot, I noticed that my commander's outfit (cosmetics paid for in real number money) were gone, seemingly replaced wholesale past an underdeveloped Flight Suit system with emotional-to-no personalisation options.
Deliberate replacement or simple oversight, it's a transfer that seems symbolic of the Odyssey experience—an immature have that clashes with surgery overwrites what came before.
Despite each this, I'm ease excited for Odyssey's outlet for one, simple reason. Stepping impermissible of your send is phenomenal. Elite's worlds are staggeringly immense. Landing on one, horizon stretching off for thousands of miles, feels like a real Neil Armstrong minute. Information technology echoes Sean Murray's "satellite-sized planets" quote more than No Man's Sky ever could.
Merely coming into the final stage of the alpha, I'm not sure the expansion needed anything more than that. Odyssey's hindmost-of-box features experience operational at the best, but often just feel outright broken. Withal, I'd probably still recommend picking IT up when IT launches on May 19th, if only to leave your first footprint somewhere no more man has gone before.
